H 107 a Recombination - Line Emission , 4800 - MHz and 1666 - MHz Continuum Emission in the HI Region RCW 38

چکیده
We present results from observations of H107a recombination-line emission and the related 4800 MHz continuum emission of the HII region RCW 38 using the Australia Telescope Compact Array. We find the continuum emission to be concentrated in a ring-like structure with the 05 star, IRS2, approximately centered in the cavity within the ring. The temperature of the ionized gas ranges from 5200 to 7500 K and the emission is optically thin. The H107a line emission appears to be confined within the continuum ring. We also find the continuum ring to encircle the peak in the diffuse X-ray gas. The radio continuum emission matches closely to NIR observations with a bright western ridge containing the peak in the 10pm emission known as IRS1 (Frogel et al. 1974) apparent in both observations. From calculations of continuum and line parameters, we estimate the spectral type of the ionizing source for the region to be an 05/06 star which is consistent with the spectral type of IRS2.

Radio observations and spectrum of the SNR G 127 . 1 + 0 . 5 and its central source 0125 + 628
We present new images of the Supernova Remnant (SNR) G127.1+0.5 (R5), based on the 408 MHz and 1420 MHz continuum emission and the HI-line emission data of the Canadian Galactic Plane Survey (CGPS). The radio spectrum of the central compact source (0125+628) is analyzed in the range 178 MHz–8.7 GHz, indicating a flat spectrum with synchrotron self-absorption below 800 MHz. The SNR’s flux densit...
متن کاملOh Satellite Line Masers and an Agn Candidate in M82
We report the detection of OH satellite line masers at 1720 MHz and 1612 MHz from the nuclear region of the starburst galaxy M82. The observations were aimed at detecting 1720 MHz maser emission from the known radio emitting SNR in the nuclear region. At 1720 MHz we detect six features above the 5σ limit set by noise, four in emission and two in absorption. Three of the emission features appear...
متن کاملThe radio spectrum and magnetic field structure of SNR HB3
Context. Evidence for a spectral flattening of the supernova remnant (SNR) HB3 (G132.7+1.3) was claimed based on previously published total flux density data, and that flattening was further interpreted as the discovery of thermal bremsstrahlung emission in the shell of HB3. Aims. A spectral flattening has never been observed from any SNR before. Reliable observations of HB3 at frequencies abov...
متن کاملSearch for synchrotron emission from secondary leptons in dense cold starless cores
We report radio continuum observations with the Australia Telescope Compact Array of two molecular clouds. The impetus for these observations is a search for synchrotron radiation by cosmic ray secondary electrons/positrons in a region of enhanced density and possibly high magnetic field. We present modelling which shows that there should be an appreciable flux of synchrotron above the more dif...
متن کاملRadio observations and spectral index study of the SNR G 126 . 2 + 1 . 6
We present new images of the low radio surface brightness Supernova Remnant (SNR) G126.2+1.6, based on the 408 MHz and 1420 MHz continuum emission and the HI-line emission data of the Canadian Galactic Plane Survey (CGPS). We find the SNR’s flux densities at 408 MHz (9.7 ± 3.9 Jy) and 1420 MHz (6.7 ± 2.1 Jy) which have been corrected for flux densities from compact sources within the SNR. We li...
